Lately, I have had this intense pull to learn more about SELF through one of the oldest studies...Astrology (from the Greek, meaning "science of the stars"). What started as a simple curiosity and interest in understanding my own chart, has slowly grown into fascination and a deep desire to explore more.
Most of us are familiar with our Sun sign, and it doesn't go much further than that. At least that's really all I knew before I had a Natal Chart reading from Katherine Emily Astrology. After hearing her in depth explanation of ME, just by interpreting where the planets were at the moment I was born (and it being so accurate and confirming into who I am, my path, and my purpose) I was hooked and ready to learn more.
Ultimately, astrology exists to answer questions about YOU. It is all about you! Think of it as a gateway to truer self understanding and and a stairway leading into your deepest self.
Overview
When we are born, the Sun, Moon and planets are in a specific location at that exact moment. To get the most accurate Natal Chart, it's important to know your birth date, birth place and birth time. The planets are in constant motion so that more accurate and exact, the better.

Your Sun Sign
Many of us know our Sun sign. This is the sign that the Sun was traveling through at the time of our birth. The Sun travels around earth once a year. During that year, the Sun moves through all 12 signs of the zodiac - spending about 1 month in each sign. That is how your Sun sign is determined, based on your birthday.
The Sun is our most powerful planet and has the most influence in your horoscope. The Sun sign determines how others see you, your individuality, and drive to fulfill goals in life. It is the role you are playing in this life and is your general character. Your Moon Sign
Your Moon sign is the part of you, that you see. The Moon sign is more emotional, sometimes the parts of us that we hide. This is a more unconscious force and the Moon might represent the side of you that reacts before you have time to think.
You may find parts of your Moon sign disturbing. It can feel into hate, jealousy, fears, and fantasy you deny yourself. On the other hand, it can express joy and pleasure and react to emotional stimuli! The Moon will modify your Sun sign, which is why it is beneficial to have a deeper understanding of both signs and how they play off one another and bring new forces or elements to create this beautiful combination that is you.
Your Rising (Ascendant) Sign
This sign is very important and rounds out your Big 3. Your Rising sign is the astrological sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth. This sign represents your outward demeanor and how the world looks at you...your image.
Some believe that the Rising sign reveals more about you than the Sun sign. Like the door of a house, it is what visitors see and must pass through in order to look inside the house itself. It speaks to your coping mechanisms, how you deal with others, how you react to life. It can be called the sign of self - self awareness, self-sufficiency, self-interest. It can influence your physical characteristics and acts as your mask of outward appearance. It hides parts of you, but is part of you. It is the face you most easily and naturally show to others.
